![]() Our state of the art physics simulation gives you a stunning level of realism. When it comes to learning and improving R/C flying skills, aerofly RC 7 is the number one choice for R/C pilots. Learn to fly radio controlled (R/C) models with aerofly RC 7. AEROFLY RC 7 SOFTWARE*** It is strongly recommended to use this software with a dedicated joystick or R/C controller with a least 4 independent axes *** Highly recommended, even if only for casual virtual piloting and air tourism.*** Please Check System Requirements Prior to Purchasing *** So far the vendor and the user community are very helpful and responsive. It comes on a set of DVDs, in the mail after that, you can get updates by DL. X Plane can be ordered but not actually obtained online - it's too large to download, like 80 GB. Its camera options are way better than the single POV in RC7. So I suspect that X Plane 9 might serve pretty well as an RC trainer, perhaps just as well as AeroFly RC7, if I can get it to recognise the DX8. rather than crashing my fragile Sports Cub S. I'm also using a fast, powerful Pitts model to teach myself the control surface moves for basic aerobatics - loops, rolls, etc. For example, it nose-overs very easily on landing, and stalls very easily in tight turns :-) So I'll be flying the "real thing" in X Plane 9 with external camera views, and maybe even hooking up my DX8 controller instead of a stock joystick, to get some winter practise in. I have spent a little time flying the full-sized Albatros D.Va model in X Plane 9, and it behaves very much like all the descriptions I have read of the RC Albatros (which I own but am terrified to fly). AEROFLY RC 7 PROFESSIONALMany, many models of plane are available - tons of user-contributed ones for free, some of them pretty rough and some pretty good, and a lesser heap of more professional models as payware, some of these startlingly authentic and well-developed. It's probably the biggest open-world sim I have ever seen, mapping the entire globe and tens of thousands of airports. It runs on Windows, OSX and Linux there is a huge user community the physics and airplane characteristics are *seriously* modelled. AEROFLY RC 7 SIMULATORBut even this older version of the simulator is great. We can only run X Plane 9, and only on our best computer (all others in the household are underpowered for this heavy-duty app). It's available through the Apple online store.īefore signing off for tonight I'd like to mention another sim that has really won our hearts here - X Plane. AEROFLY RC 7 MACI think I can recommend this sim to Mac users who want a trainer for off-season practise, heli skills improvement, etc. I might even learn enough to fly a non-coax heli myself someday :-) It is just great to be able to start over *without* a week or two on the bench and many dollars in parts! I think that this sim is going to help my DH (he's more into helis than I am) to develop some competence before flying the infamous Blade 120SRX again. Crashes in RC7 are fairly realistic, with bouncing heli, bent blades, and a crumpled heap lying on the asphalt when it's all over. The heli flight was extremely realistic in that I had all the trouble I usually have with any heli more advanced than the MCX2 :-) I start overcorrecting and swiftly crash. There is probably some way to zoom or otherwise improve this problem but I notice that no alt camera views (which would have been handy at times) seem to be supported in the entry-level version that I bought. My only complaint is that the aircraft get out of sight too fast on a flat screen with no depth perception and other real-world cues, it's hard to maintain orientation and control once the aircraft is a distant dark dot. I tried flying a basic trainer plane, then a basic flybar heli, then a (the only and only) quad. The adapter cable looks kinda hokey, but it works :-) ![]() The radio goes into Slave/Trainer mode when the cable's attached it is recognised by AeroFly with no fooling around, and is easy to calibrate. I can report that (at least with OSX Lion) everything works nicely. I bought the Ikarus adapter cable for DX family Spektrum radios and tested with my DX8. Just installed AeroFly Rc 7 on my DH's iMac (xmas prezzie). ![]()
